While the hull was manufactured in 1995, and on cursory inspection appears to be in great shape, the motor is a 2005 Evinrude 250 E-Tec, a powerful and efficient addition to an already great boat. This vessel would have originally come with a 150 or 200 HP motor, so you can only imagine what happens to the performance with another 50 horses out back. The seller reports the hours on this motor to be very low. In a boat like this, the cockpit is where the action happens, and the Wellcraft Excel does not disappoint in this regard. Four rocket launchers, four gunwale rod holders, and six under gunwale rod storage slots provide space for plenty of tackle. A 25 gallon live well provides a safe place for your live bait. Three insulated fish boxes, one under the port seat and two in the cockpit floor, provide lots of space to bring home your catch. The helm station is Wellcraft standard with gauges that are reported to work as expected. There is a GPS mount and wiring to the transducer out back. The GPS unit itself is not present. Covering the helm is a canvas top in good shape, providing some much-needed shade on those sunny Florida fishing days. Continuing forward is the feature that makes a walk around a walk around - the cuddy cabin. Here you find a V-berth for two that doubles as a dinette and space for a porta-potty starboard aft. The stereo head is located here in the cabin. Two side windows and a skylight provide natural light with 12-volt lights for the evening hours. Anchor locker access is found forward of the V-berth. Bilge access is aft. Out on the bow is the bow pulpit with a standard drop anchor. The bow is surrounded by handrails with a cable rail beneath. When the big fish is dragging you all over the boat, not only can you get out front, but you can do so with the safety of railings to help keep you in the boat.
