The Switch 51 is a classic, high performance world voyager designed by VPLP. She was built with high tech materials for discriminating sailors at Sud Composites in Sete, France. Sud built 18 of these fine performance catamarans from 2001 to 2007, at which time the yard was taken over by Swiss Cat, another fine builder of boutique performance cats.
During the early years at Sud Composites, The Multihull Company were the North American distributors and we sold several of these fine cats to our customers, all of whom loved the boats and sailed great distances in them safely and switly. One of our customers raced his Switch 51 and took winning honors in every race he entered. But for all that, the Switch is a very comfortable live-aboard voyager. Her two aft master cabins are very spacious and her forward port V-berth is double bed size.
NEKO is a 2004 Switch 51 in excellent condition and very clean. And as you would expect she is a cruise kitted catamaran ready to sail anywhere in the world. Just take a look at her full specs and listing to see all the gear and equipment she has on her. If you are the sort of person who cannot grasp the concept of sailing at 6 to 8 knots all day as you do on the garden variety charter cats, or dismayed to stick your boat up into the wind with fixed keels and see her drifting sideways, this dagger-boarded Switch just may be your ticket. She will easily average 9 to 11 knots over a 24 hour period in good winds, and she is capable of high teens in surfing and high wind conditions. Unlike comparable Outremer 50 to 55 of this vintage, she is all composite above the waterline (single skin vinlylester resin under the waterline), all foam core, all furniture foam core. Her wider flared hulls will carry far greater payloads without bogging down. I love the Switch 51 for any of our customers looking to go places in style - fast, gorgeous to look at, comfortable to live on. We are proud to be the central exclusive agents for such a fine performance catamaran.
The current owners purchased this boat in Tahiti and sailed here back to the Caribbean where she has been since.
