The Saffier Se26 is the essence of elegance, a wolf in sheep's clothing and excellently built. This 26 is equipped with many special options.
Overview
A truly magnificent and unique Saffier SE26 from 2013. This class ship, classic and yet modern is on the water a wolf in sheep's clothing. Very rigidly built with a 800 kg lead keel of 1m30 (racing version) and a ballast percentage of almost 50%! Fast and high to the wind sailing are many larger yachts a sought after prey.
Deck and Cockpit
The deck, cockpit and cockpit benches are finished in Esthec honey colour. Excellent anti-slip and low maintenance. In combination with the black hull and teak foot rail, this is truly an eye-catcher. In the harbour and in the locks, compliments are in order.
Sails and Rigging
The ship has high-tech sails from Quantum. Mainsail and jib grey/black Fusion M-membrane. The a-symmetrical spinnaker A3 (gennaker) with logo (stylized swan) version Nylite 90 of 45 m2 is also from Quantum. The spinnaker bag is a so called "box-turtle". The jib is self turning on rail with a Furlex furling-jib system. The roller is mounted below deck. For the safe and easy hoisting and lowering of the mainsail, there is a lazybag with lazy jacks. The boom is supported by a Seldén rod kicker (down/up holder). Two strong Harken winches of which the port winch is electric and is used for operating the halyards and sheets. The electric winch is for hoisting the mainsail and operating the foresail.
Sailing Features
The ship is really easy to sail solo. An extendable foresail foot can be hooked to an eye on the mast for downwind sailing with the reefing jib. The furling jib cover has a top and bottom zipper so the jib can be kept struck to prevent pumping the forestay in port. The sprayhood can be folded down and stored in a covered garage. A large cockpit tent with entrances on the sides and at the back provide comfort in harbour. A steering wheel cover and covers for the 2 winches complete the canvas work.
Steering and Navigation
On deck there are 6 stainless steel folding battens including the two middle battens. Of course with stainless steel wear strips on the teak foot rail. The steering position with destroyer steering wheel is from Jefa. The steering position has an integrated console for the Raymarine plotter / GPS E95 MFD Hybridtouch. Navigate with the digital map right in front of you.
Engine and Electrical System
The ship is equipped with a 2-cylinder Yanmar engine type 2YM15, 14 HP. Propulsion is done by a saildrive and a 2-blade Flexofold folding propeller. The batteries are maintenance free and are respectively 55 and 100 AH. The light battery is equipped with a voltmeter in the cabin. Diode bridge and a 10A battery charger keep the batteries up to date. The ship is equipped with complete navigation lights according to regulations. By means of a switch panel is the entire electrical system to switch.
Autopilot and Instruments
The ship has a very strong Raymarine autopilot mounted below deck on the quadrant type 1 linear short drive. It is controlled by a SPX-10 smart pilot computer and a control panel. Also the other equipment is supplied by Raymarine. Three type I70 gauges, all freely programmable with depth/speed transducer and mast stop unit. Large and brightly lit, the gauges are perfectly legible from the helmsman's position. All Raymarine instruments are connected to each other and communicate through an ITC-5 TDX converter. The compass is from Suunto.
Interior Comfort
Inside the cabin you will find comfort that you would not expect. The ship is extra (not standard!) adapted for use as a weekend or week sailor. A week at the Belgian coast or the Wadden Sea is no problem. The ship is certified for coastal navigation. Stainless steel entrance steps supplied separately. Of the 4 berths one berth is sacrificed for an Isotherm compressor fridge (drawer version). The galley is located on the starboard side. Cooking on a combined Dometic stove is possible on spirit and electric 230 volts! A sink with outlet for cups and cutlery. There is a 40 litre water tank with Aquajet pressure pump, tap and soap dispenser. For the high need there is a toilet. With faecal tank and deck suction.
Communication and Entertainment
For communication and extra safety is a fixed VHF radio mounted the Icom IC-M423 DSC with antenna above the mast. The GPS data is provided by the plotter. For extra comfort a Fusion MS-RA205 marine radio with USB is installed. Equipped with 22 speakers with a beautiful sound. LED reading lights together with a ceiling fixture increase comfort in the evening. A radio controlled weather station and binoculars are mounted on the port side. The ship is a jewel, what is called: a sapphire!
