DESCRIPTION

An updated and well maintained O’Day 34, INDIAN SUMMER was repowered in 2005 with a new Yanmar engine and transmission package and a 3.5 kW Phasor generator. Surely to please even the most discriminating buyer, INDIAN SUMMER is ready to continue cruising in comfort and style. Don’t settle for a boat that needs upgrading, this one is ready now.

With beautiful interior teak and paneled bulkheads, louvered cabinet doors and matching upholstery, this 34 is surely to please every discriminating buyer.

"The O'Day 34 is one boat that will please both the competitors and cruising sailors in your family. It's a high-performance sea-going cruiser designed by John Deknatel of C. Raymond Hunt and Associates to offer the speed and roominess of a bigger boat, the handling and responsiveness of a smaller boat, and the comforts and amenities of a well-appointed yacht. And it does it all for a surprisingly affordable O'Day price..." From the original O'Day 34 brochure.

The first thing you will notice about INDIAN SUMMER is her good looks, classic yacht proportions and her graceful low profile silhouette. There are contemporary accents like smoked glass plexiglass port lights and a flush mounted forward hatch. The cockpit is enclosed with a full 4-side Sunbrella green enclosure with added screens.

The good first impression is more than realized out once you step onboard! The clean uncluttered decks, intelligently organized rig, extensive detailing and painstaking finishes are proof that the O’Day 34 is built to sail. Teak handrails, companionway grab-rails and full length teak exterior cabin trim are just some examples. Molded-in nonskid deck finish covers every working surface. A recessed, self-draining anchor locker in the foredeck and cast stem head fitting with an integral anchor roller make anchor work and storage easy and safe. Double bow and stern pulpits, reinforced stations and a single life line are standard. A stern mounted folding swim ladder adds to the safety characteristics. A seafood protects the sliding companionway hatch from wind and weather. The cockpit is shielded with a full enclosure and high coamings. The countered cockpit seats are very comfortable and there are closed foam cushions to ensure comfort and relaxation. There are two large cockpit lazarettes and propane storage.

The thoughtful design and detailing are continued throughout the practical interior. The cabin, with 6’ 2” headroom is entered down a stainless-steel entry ladder with teak treads. The ladder can be removed for easy access into the engine compartment. To port is a large U-shaped galley with separate refrigerator and freezer compartments, a two-burner stove top and plenty of storage with cabinets and drawers. The navigation station is to starboard, boarded by a large hanging locker forward and a quarter berth aft that will easily sleep two. There is plenty of storage for charts and instrumentation, space for electronics, and knee room for sitting down while at the navigation station.

A large dinette table with two bottle storage compartments in its center is amidships and offers port and starboard leaves. Along the port side is a U-shaped settee that converts to a double berth while the starboard side features a long straight settee. Above each settee are custom louvered door cabinets for storage and storage for books and small items. A teak bulkhead separates the main cabin forward. To port is a hanging locker and an equally large locker with shelve. The head is to starboard and offers entry from the companionway or a private entry from the stateroom. The head is large with plenty of storage capabilities and a large shower area and vanity with molded sink. All the way forward is the master cabin. The forward stateroom has V-berths exceeding 6’ 5” with filler cushion. There is plenty of storage with cabinets and drawers. Outboard shelfs offer additional storage and an overhead hatch allows for natural ventilation.
