DESCRIPTION

A well-exploited 42-footer, with wide and bright spaces, with the advantages of Ips propulsion and a main environment excellently isolated from the outside, but that at the touch of a button makes you feel at one with the sea. (YPI) The aesthetic result is balanced, the momentum is enhanced by the low line of the superstructure and the inclination of the aft mirror. The windows are low, as if it were a coupe car, and at the stern of the- the hardtop a large spoiler has the dual function of giving dynamism to the side and partially repairing the underlying cushion. The plank is applied but integrates perfectly, so much so that it seems structural. It is also covered in teak, but the rather shallow depth makes it unexploitable. The aft sundress is very high, because below, sheltered by an electro-hydraulic hatch, there is a large garage for the tender. From the left side of the bearing you enter the passforward, safe as it is well protected both by the high wall and by a full-length battalion. There's also a hardtop. On the starboard side you have access to the cockpit, with a solution that varies on demand: normally the distinction inside-out is given only by the sides of the superstructure, but as an optional you can mount a glass divider in two parts: a door flanked by a large glass window that lowers electrically allowing you to choose whether to isolate yourself from the outside or create a unique environment. The example of our test offered this solution, and we would recommend it strongly because it increases the versatility of the boat. The inner cockpit offers a large dinette with table on the left for 5-6 people; In front, a small cabinet encloses sink, refrigerator and, on request, also grill and ice fabricator. Finally, at the bow, there is the dashboard, with double adjustable seat. A sliding plexiglas door gives access to the square below deck. Here it is worth remembering that the priority of the designers, in the presence of a minimum-footprint motor-transmission group, was to give amplitude to the environments. So there are only two cabins, but the spaces are very generous. The lounge includes a large starboard dinette (if necessary it becomes a double bed), in front of which is a TV cabinet and the kitchen, equipped with gas hob (on request in ceramic glass, fortunately...) and column refrigerator. The room is very bright because a glass window on the ceiling takes light directly from the windshield. The VIP cabin at the bow has the peculiarity of a wardrobe cabin, of the walk-in type. The toilet, with beautiful finishes in two essences (oak and cherry), doubles as a day toilet. At the stern, however, is the owner with a full glow. It's an unusual solution for boats of this size, but we found it really rewarding. The width allows the assembly of the double bed at 45 degrees relative to the roll axis of the boat, and there is room for a large window on the starboard wall and for a table that can serve as a mini office or vanity corner. The bathroom room is large and the shower box is separate. The test We take to the wheelhouse and set in motion. Volvo D6 engines of 370 horsepower are quiet to a minimum, thanks to the inline 6-cylinder architecture that minimizes vibrations. We immediately notice that standing with hardtop closed is complicated: the windshield is in fact very low. There are two solutions: either drive seated, or stand on the pre-echel, open the sliding roof (very large and advanced towards the bow) and drive with your head out. The latter is the most comfortable and even the most enjoyable way, as it feels on a real open. The performance is typical for boats equipped with trait edches: therefore, great handling, shooting, no noise and vibration. In addition, the low weight of this Prestige 42 S allows for faster accelerations and even more stable turns. In just over 7 seconds the boat is gliding, and in another 15 we are at the maximum speed of 35 knots. By stabilizing on the cruise, between 2,800 and 3,000 laps, you can keep gaits in the order of 25-26 knots with a total consumption of about 90 liters/hour and a very good level of soundproofing (especially closing the aft window).
