Owner's Remarks - I was able to verify "Little Langtry" was first owned by the Designer Alan Buchanan upon completion of build. I spoke on the telephone to Mr Buchanan and obtained some further back ground as to history of the yacht and his requirement for a high specification of joinery not to be found on other "Clippers". I purchased her in February 1982 having set a personal specification for a higher ballast ratio vessel, of moderate draft and overall length, all essentials for safe single handed local sailing and annual cruises. Through good and constant maintenance and care, I have enjoyed almost trouble free ownership for 34 years, I re engined the yacht in 1982, good and regular maintenance has returned total trouble free service, the Volvo 2002 engine has never failed! "Lillie Langtry" has cruised most of the South Coast, Thames Estuary harbours, Channel Islands, France, Normandy, Brittany, Pas de Calais, N. French Coast. In 2007 with mast removed I took the yacht single handed into the French Canals, via R. Seine, R. Marne, Paris, Rheims, Canal du Nord, and R. Somme wintering ashore at St Valery sur Somme. Now single handed sailing has become harder and it is time to retire. However, selling my beloved "Little Langtry" who has kept me safe on so many occasions and given endless fun and enjoyment will be one of the most difficult moments for me to endure. Why "Lillie Langtry" The yacht was designed and owned by the very well known Designer 1-2 years, of cruiser/racing yachts - Alan Buchanan maintained his design studio and business in St. Helier, Jersey, where he lived for most of his life. "Lillie Langtry" was of course a very beautiful woman and confidant of King Edward Vll and is 'posted' as a most beautiful woman of elegance and style. "Lillie Langtry" was also named "The Jersey Lily" having grown up in St Helier where her father was Dean. Alan Buchanan and Lily Langtry's habitation of Jersey lends itself to the naming of this fine yacht. Moreover - This Sailing Yacht - A beautiful, elegant, gentle lady loved by so many passing yachts people for her unquestionable style and grace". Mechanical and Rigging : Volvo Penta ModelHP Engine replaced new 1992 by Chicks Marine Guernsey. Engine serviced by owner pre season and by engineer every other year The engine is cooled with fresh water via a heat exchanger The exhaust tail is raw sea water cooled (this system adds years to the engine block by avoiding salt water corrosion) Rear rubber suspension units and steel mounts replaced Oct 2015 Shaft partially withdrawn in shaft log & re sealed Oct 2015 Forward & rear shaft greasers refilled each season Batteries - 2 x  85 amp hour batteries through new (2010), main switch system for engine, house, and or both circuits (One new battery needed) New mains battery wiring to engine 2012 Owner's remarks - "Without doubt the most reliable engine that I have worked with. With constant care and attention to usual fluid levels, fluid changes and rawer filter, this engine has never let me down. Very much valued" Volvo instruments and control through Morse rod system Propellor - 8 x 14" 3 blade Fuel - diesel approx. 1/3rd gallon per hour at 2000 rpm.
