Nantucket Island 38s are sought-after cruising boats, and rarely available on the market. Their ultra-strong construction, encapsulated lead keel (no keelbolts to shear) long cutaway keel with skeg-hung rudder make them relatively fast comfortable and safe in a seaway or when the going gets tough.
Taiwanese built by a company that specialized in solid fiberglass construction, and known for their legendary teak joinery work, thoughtfully designed by Peter Cole for the Southern Oceans and an interior layout to die for, this is your forever boat.
Mac Pac is in great order, and has had significant upgrades, including a new engine in 2016, and is ready to cruise or live aboard, while you prepare her for epic adventures further afield.
Forward is a matchwood and teak lined V berth featuring lockers port and starboard. Berths have steps up to twin berths port and starboard with optional filler that converts it to a double bed. Aft and port is a two-door hanging locker with several other lockers and shelves.
Stepping aft there is a head compartment with basin and lockers outboard and below and prism skylight. Mixing faucet features a pull-out shower handle. Floor with teak grid drains into a sump for standing shower.
A solid teak sliding door recessed into the teak planked forward bulkhead closes off head and forward cabin area from main saloon. Both sides of the main saloon are paneled in solid teak with brass mesh-fronted accents on the locker doors frames the operable stainless steel port lights that appear to be in great condition, and complete the cozy nautical feeling whether in port or in an active seaway.
There is a settee/sea berth to starboard and a u-shaped dining area to port featuring a rectangular oak veneered table that could seat four to six. Table extends out so an additional lead can be added to seat two more or can be dropped down to provide comfortable double bed. A brass oil lamp is a prominent feature in the center of the main saloon which is complimented by brass reading lamps
There is great airflow throughout the main cabin, thanks to the center hatch and the four operable stainless steel port-lights in the hull side.
Further aft and to port is a nicely appointed galley with light colored laminate counter tops, into which fridge and freezer compartment access has been built, there is a newer gimbled 2 burner stove with oven and double sink. There is an incredible amount of storage in lockers and drawers throughout the space.
To starboard of the galley is a forward-facing chart table around which the electrical panels and navigation systems are clustered and 6" chart plotter and a hand-held compass and dock are mounted here. Moving further aft, the transition to the master stateroom has a large locker to port with wash basin and pull-out shower.
The cleverly designed and the solidly constructed pair of teak double doors latch when open for privacy and the floor below has drains and a teak grid a can be used as a second shower area. This is a great location for washer dryer. [Note. Washer Dryer is NOT present].
The aft master stateroom features a large Pullman berth to starboard and a sofa / love seat to port with a vanity area and mirror on the forward bulkhead. Large hanging lockers with double doors and cavernous storage lockers and drawers to starboard are all finished impeccably in solid teak.
The aft stateroom is great place to reflect and away from the rest of the crew.
Cockpit is large enough to sleep two adults and is protected from the elements by a practically designed and well executed hard dodger in GRP and a high wrap around combing A second chart plotter and instruments are housed in a teak housing. There is an autopilot control at the helm Harken main sheet traveler and a stainless-steel arch. Outside of the cockpit there is a flush deck, making access to the mast and aft deck easy. Stainless steel “granny” bars at the mast make it safe and easy to access and work lines at the mast.
