1997 Moody 36

Boat Overview

The Bill Dixon designed Moody 36 centre cockpit captured the attention of the yachting press when launched in the mid 1990’s. This model features a slightly more performance-oriented hull form compared to her predecessors. The design encapsulates the qualities of her larger sisters, making it easily handled by a couple while providing spacious accommodation below decks; ideally suited as a family cruiser.

Current Status

A lightly used example of the Moody 36 SULAIRE is available with just her second owner since being launched new. Reluctantly for sale, her owner is in the process of having her commissioned for the season, including full wash, polish, antifoul, and saildrive diaphragm replacement. Much loved, she benefits from continual upgrading. Her extensive inventory includes:

Lying in Port Bannatyne Marina, the Moody 36 SULAIRE will be lifted ashore in early April for spring commissioning works, relaunching late April. She is available for immediate viewing strictly by prior appointment.

Hull Construction

Single piece GRP moulded hull.
Hand laid glassfibre construction with isophthalic gelcoat backed by initial lay up of powder bound mat and isophthalic resin.
Hull topsides above waterline balsa cored sandwich construction for reduced weight and increased structural stiffness.
Hull stiffened by bonded in frames and stringers in conjunction with semi-structural internal mouldings.
Transom incorporating moulded in board steps.
Topsides finished in original white gelcoat with navy cove line and boottop.
Underwater hull finished in Navy antifouling.

Deck & Superstructure Construction

Single piece GRP moulded deck incorporating coachroof and self-draining cockpit.
Sandwich construction on deck areas, stiffened with balsa core. Marine plywood backing pads in way of deck fittings.
Deck finished in white gelcoat with a non-slip pattern moulded in panels on all deck areas.
Deck edge incorporates raised bulwark with teak cap rail.
Cockpit sole and seating finished in traditional teak laid panels.

Keel

Bolt on fin keel.
Cast iron construction.

Skeg hung, semi-balanced.
