The Mini 650 rule craft are small, tough and very fast racers designed to cross oceans. This Pierre Rolland design, whilst no longer competitive at the highest level, offers an extraordinary amount of performance at a most affordable price. Recently refurbished by its experienced owner, she is well sorted and ready to go.

The accommodation is simple, spartan and completely practical. There is a double berth forward under the foredeck. In the centre of the boat there is a rudimentary galley to port with single burner gas hob, small sink and freshwater supplied from a jerrycan. 10 litre freshwater capacity. There are two comfortable seating positions port and starboard allowing a watchkeeper to sleep safely on either tack whilst staying close to the cockpit and ready for action. There is a chemical toilet.
Located on bracket at the transom, Tohatsu M3.5B2 short shaft 3.5 hp two stroke outboard engine. Hand start. Forward-Neutral shifting with 360 steering. Integral fuel tank giving approximately 4 mile range at 4 knots cruising speed. Maximum speed under power 5 knots. Last serviced Autumn 2015.
Fractional rigged sloop. Anodised aluminium mast and boom. Stainless steel standing rigging (2015). Backstay adjuster. Terylene and Dyneema running rigging. Asymmetric boom. Salb reefing mainsail. Hank-on headsails. All lines led aft to cockpit. Two Lewmar 16 self tailing sheet winches. Two Lewmar 7 control line winches.
Built in 1993 by Pierre Rolland to his own design. White painted GRP hull. White painted GRP superstructure with painted non-slip to deck. Fin keel with bulb ballast. Aft self draining cockpit. Twin rudders with tiller steering.
Built for the 1993 miniTransat, sailed in the 1995 miniTransat and other Mini 6.50 races including the mini Fastnet. The owner bought her to find out what a Mini 650 was like to sail and was totally surprised. He reports that the boat fells like a 40 footer, beautifully balanced, stable and very quick. She has been on a swinging mooring and wintered ashore. Since buying the boat, he has given her a complete refit (he is an experienced boatbuilder), renewing the standing rigging, removing and correctly refitting all the deck fittings, improvng the mainsheet system, rebuilding the companionway, adding a new autopilot, battery and VHF, and generally optimising the deck layout to make the boat easy and efficient to sail. She was antifouled in the Spring this year, so the boat is ready to sail away.
Easy to sail, loads of fun and very quick. The absolute antithesis of the average modern family cruiser, this tough little boat is for those who hate modern inconveniences but love to sail...fast!
