DESCRIPTION

The Maverick 440 is one of the most original and ingenious bluewater cats to come along in many years. It offers enormous interior volumes, great cockpit and deck space and clever ergonomics throughout. Stepping into the salon of this cat truly feels like walking into a spacious loft with unobstructed views and abundant light. Modern lines coupled with the use of noble materials and fabrics - corian countertops, maple veneers, teak and holly floors, alcantara cushions - enhance this elegant atmosphere. Have a look at the interior photos in the attached specification and immerse yourself in a world of refinement and comfort.

SPECIAL FEATURES of the YACHT:

LIBERTY is owned by an experienced yachtsman and multihull enthusiast. A three cabin owner version with two bathrooms, it was designed and specified for extended cruises with his family and thus has over 300 drawings and incorporates many original features and well-thought-out flow and treatment of all living spaces.

The Mavericks are built extra-strong to suit the harsh South African conditions using materials and equipment that are far superior to standards commonly found on production multihulls. The hulls, deck and coachroof are entirely constructed of glass fiber over foam core. No balsa anywhere on this yacht! The salon windows are glass, not plexiglass, and will not scratch or craze over time. The stanchions, pulpits, pushpits, bimini support and swimming ladder are all high-grade stainless steel. No second-rate "Made in China" raw materials here! The rig is by SPARCRAFT, stayed by a cap shroud and lower shroud on each side for additional reliability offshore. Culminating at 63 feet, the mast is Intracoastal Waterway (ICW) capable. The yacht is equipped with a suite of premium NORTH SAILS: tri-radial cut, laminated mainsail, tri-radial cut, laminated genoa and genaker on a continuous furler. A retractable bow-sprit is ingenuously fitted into the compression beam. The sail-handling is simplified and the helm station is well protected. The main halyard, main sheet and all reef lines are led back to the cockpit. A HARKEN electric winch at the helm allows the main to be hoisted effortlessly.

The interior volume is enormous, easily equivalent to a traditional 50 foot cat. The hulls are extra wide (24'6") offering large cabins with queen-sized, island beds in the aft cabins, plenty of storage and very good load-carrying capacity. The coachroof extends well forward providing a generously proportioned galley and saloon. The salon opens onto a wide, protected aft deck with flowing access to very wide aft transoms. These extra-wide transoms are perfect for getting on and off a dinghy, preparing for a dive or fishing. An extra long and sturdy swimming/diving ladder is fitted on the port transom.

LIBERTY is fitted with an original aft platform, ideal for storing a dinghy well out-of-the-way for passage-making or for sunbathing, yoga...The dinghy is hoisted using a boom extension and dedicated halyard which is led back to the electric winch at the helm.

The hull and appendage design is the result of extensive development, the keel being positioned well back in the boat. As a result the boat tacks quickly and steers easily, reducing the load on any autopilot.

LIBERTY is fully equipped for extended cruising with numerous amenities. These include very large fuel (210 gallons) and water capacities (260 gallons), solar panels, large service alternators with charge boosters, extra battery capacity, fridge and two drawer-freezers, shore-side air-conditioning/heating, a second sink with fresh and salt water taps with access to the cockpit, microwave, FUSION flat screen TV and FUSION stereo with iPod adapter.

LIBERTY is powered by 40 HP Yanmars. These upgraded engines push her swiftly at 8.5 knots at 2700 rpm. Both engines are fitted with oil extraction pumps making oil changes easy and clean. The autopilot, chartplotter and radar are upgraded, top-shelf SIMRAD.

SAILING HISTORY:

LIBERTY sailed from Cape Town to Annapolis non-stop in just under 50 days with plenty of fuel to spare. A 7200+ mile offshore passage made at over 6 knots average speed. A real testament to this yacht's bluewater capabilities.

The owner sailed her down the Chesapeake to Florida in the fall and has sailed her in the Florida Keys and Bahamas since. The yacht has been thoroughly de-bugged and various warranty items worked through. She is maintained in show-room condition. The bottom and zincs were replaced (1 coat of INTERNATIONAL INTERPROTECT epoxy barrier coat + 2 coats INTERNATIONAL bottom paint) in June 2014.

LIBERTY is located in Fort Meyers, FL. Please contact Alexis de Boucaud to arrange a showing.
