A rarely available and superbly finished Swedish built cruiser, the Malo 96 features Malo Yachts' trademark solid protective fixed windscreen with targa mounted main-sheet. It has a spacious deep aft cockpit with wheel steering and all teak decks. This delightful cruising boat has been in the capable hands of one owner for 8 years, who is reluctantly selling due to a change in circumstances. The owner is open to sensible offers for a quick sale.
Please call our Kent – Chatham Office for further information or to arrange a viewing.
Owned by the current owner for the last 8 years, who is selling due to ill health. Known to have had 2 previous owners. Last out of the water in April 2014, anti-fouled, anodes changed.
The Malo 96 accommodates 7 people in 3 cabins with 3 doubles and 1 single. The interior is finished in African light mahogany with blue velour upholstery, teak floors, and carpeted areas. Heated throughout via Nordic diesel powered cabin heating.
Forward Cabin: V-berth with infill to make a comfortable double, generous storage below bunks, including a tier of three drawers, hanging locker to port, and wet locker to starboard, with a large ventilation hatch.
Saloon: Comfortable wrap-around seating to port, creating a large and comfortable double berth when the table is lowered. Locker and shelving space outboard of the settee. Settee berth to starboard creating a large single berth, with an overall headroom of approximately 6’1”.
Navigation Area: Outward facing chart table aft of the saloon area to starboard.
Galley: L-shaped galley with gas cooker and oven, ice box, pressurized hot and cold water supply, twin stainless steel sinks, and plenty of storage space.
Aft Cabin: Positioned aft of the galley to port, double berth with storage beneath, hanging locker, and shelf stowage.
Heads: Positioned aft of the chart table to starboard, marine toilet with Corian sink and surfaces, shower, and stainless steel holding tank.
Masthead sloop rigged, deck stepped aluminium mast and boom, stainless steel standing rigging (inspected 2002), running rigging replaced as required. Slab reefing and Lazyjacks with furling Genoa. Main sheet track located on targa bar.

The Malo 96 is powered by a 1987 Volvo 2003 three-cylinder 28hp single diesel engine (engine last serviced August 2016, also injectors refurbished), shaft drive to a 3-bladed fixed propeller.
3 x 12 volt batteries charging from the engine alternator, 240 volt battery charger, 240 volt ring main also installed.
Full encapsulated fin keel with lead ballast. Semi skegged rudder.
The Malo 96 was built in 1987 by Malo Yachts based on the west coast of Sweden, designed by Olsöners Båtbyggen. The Malo 96 was introduced in 1986 and production ceased in 1990. A total of 60 examples were built, and those reaching UK shores were referred to as the Malo 33. Solid GRP laminate below the waterline, with GRP balsa sandwich constructed hull and Kevlar reinforcement to deck and superstructure. Teak laid decks and coach-roof.
