Janessa III
Janessa III is an interesting and unique saloon launch, designed as a motorboat version of a Daring sailing boat and built by Lallows of Cowes where the current owner was a regular customer. A little background on the elegant Daring hull : The Daring was designed by Olympian sailor, Arthur Robb, based on his successful 5.5 metre yacht "Vision", silver medal winner at the 1956 Games. At 33' (10.05m) long with a beam of 6' 4" (1.93m), the Daring is the longest and narrowest one-design keelboat in Cowes.
The design translated well into a saloon launch which the owner has kept at the bottom of his Thames side property for the past decade. Unfortunately he is no longer able to enjoy his boat due to ill health. A buyer would be purchasing a really useable low maintenance craft with a good sized saloon which can be converted to berths for sleeping, a decent heads and a small galley. The hull being of GRP the boat was designed to be relatively easy to maintain with some bright work on the cabin and decks only.
The petrol outboard is concealed under the aft deck, a lovely counterstern, and this could be replaced by an electric outboard should a new owner wish to go 'green and clean' cruising. However with the distance between the modern outboard and the helm there is little noise from the outboard in any case.
The boat is currently in storage ashore in Chertsey where an interested party would be welcome to view by appointment. Please call the office for more information.
