DESCRIPTION

1978 Formosa 46 Center Cockpit Sloop

The Formosa 46, Center Cockpit Sloop is designed by noted and much written about Doug Peterson and is a sailing yacht that performs in all conditions. She is rated as one of the top performers with regards to speeds, durability, and comfort. She is a full keel vessel that can cover many safe blue water sailing nautical miles at up to 8.25 knots, 175 miles a day. She has a spacious layout with full Galley, two beautiful staterooms and a comfortable Salon with extraordinary storage in all areas for long blue water voyages or live aboard. Her Center Cockpit is the center of command and a wonderful area to relax and enjoy the days and evenings. This area is fully enclosed and makes cruising comfortable when in heavy weather. Vessel Walkthrough

Starting forward is the Guest stateroom with V-Berth. Coming aft is a large head on port with hanging lockers across on starboard. Main salon has a large U-Shaped dinette on port with a long settee opposite to Starboard. A very capable fully equipped sea galley is aft on port, across from the Galley is a forward-facing navigation station. The companionway to the aft cabin runs down the starboard side with excellent access to the engine room and additional storage. The master stateroom is aft with a queen size double, lots of drawer and hanging storage. There is a vanity, sink, and seat in the forward port quarter and a separate companionway entrance to the cockpit.

Forward Head:

2019 new Jabsco manual toilet. 2022 new Jabsco Macerator self-priming – dry-run protection waste pump. All water and waste hoses new in 2019. Two independent doors for privacy to either stateroom or salon. One working port window. One stainless sink and teak flooring. One GFCI electrical outlet and substantial storage compartments.

Galley and Navigation Station:

Galley is nice sized with force 10, 4-Burner stove/oven LP (Two 12-gallon LP bottles outside cockpit). Refrigerator/Freezer are large with two units Fridgeaboat Capri 50s, 2019. The freezer is easily accessed by two top lids and the refrigerator from large side door opening. Plenty of storage and a double stainless-steel sink and three LED lights to lite entire galley. Three GFCI electrical outlets throughout galley. All new white Formica galley counters in 2019. One working port window and one larger fixed port window for natural lighting with custom covers. One Sunbeam microwave 850-Watt microwave 2019.

Navigation Station - The companionway separates the galley from the Navigation station with stairs for easy access to cockpit. The chart table area is very comfortable with one LED dual light and dedicated chart lamp and easy access to AC/DC electrical panel. One ICOM VHF radio 2019 and Standard Horizon portable floating VHF transceiver. Xantrex proline Inverter Charger controller, easy access. Very nice storage compartments in chart table area. One large, fixed port window for indirect lighting and custom cover.

Master Stateroom and Head:

The aft stateroom is so beautiful and roomy for comfortable sailing, and storage galore. All custom cushions for perfect sleeping, new in 2019. Cannot emphasis how much storage in the aft stateroom. A never used 32-inch LED, HDMI Samsung television is beautifully located in a custom-made cabinet at the foot of the bed, 2019. There are four working port windows with custom covers and a working covered hatch above. One LED light and one electrical outlet. A nice feature is that the cockpit can be accessed from the stateroom via the second companionway. Easy to view instruments at the helm from the aft companionway opening. Mermaid 12,000 Air conditioning system dedicated to the aft stateroom is more than adequate to cool. The clothes locker is large with very much storage throughout the stateroom, a real plus for long crossings or even live aboard use. Underneath the aft stateroom bed is easy access to the cable steering system, new in 2020. Also, easy access to checking propellor stuffing box. The Aft stateroom also has a private head with shower, Jabsco manual toilet 2019, single stainless sink, LED light, one working port window, one GFCI electrical outlet and adequate storage cabinets. Teak floor mat.

Guest Stateroom and Head:

Forward Stateroom is Beautiful, all new in 2018, custom cushions. Large attractive locker with many independent storage drawers. One covered hatch and DC outlet. Substantial storage underneath raised v-birth. Decorative lighting and privacy entrance to forward head. Two working port windows with custom covers. The air conditioning vent easily keeps stateroom cold for very pleasant sleeping. The forward stateroom and salon are more than adequately cooled by an Ocean Breeze 18,500 unit located under the V-Berth mattress. 2019

Deck and Cockpit:

Gone with the Wind deck was completely redone in 2018 with all teak removed and subfloor replaced and coated with fiberglass and non-skid coating. All lifeline system new 2018. All standing rigging new in 2018, 2019. Mack Sails Stuart Florida; Jib and Main (in mast furling) rigging excellent. The 65-foot mast was removed in 2019 Hinckley, Stuart Florida and completely sanded and painted and bottom paint job performed. Navigation lights and spreader lights. The windlass is a Seawolf 12v, completely reconditioned in 2018. The anchor is a Mantis, new 2019 and all new cradle stainless support 2020. The anchor locker forward has 125 feet of chain, new 2019 and 150 feet anchor rope line, if ever needed.

Electronics and Helm:

At the binnacle, all Raymarine instruments provide all that is needed for a safe passage. Chart plotter Raymarine Axium 7, Raymarine auto pilot p70s controller, Raymarine wind and speed controller, manual compass, and original steering wheel. ICOM VHF is at the navigation station.

Electrical:

A well laid out electrical system is on board. An AC/DC breaker panel for ships service. Battery compartment is easy accessed. There are two 12-volt 8-D bank batteries 2019 and dedicated 12-volt 1800-amp engine battery - 2020. A Xantrex Prosine 3.0/12 Inverter/Charger installed 2019 along with all new electric switch controls and fuse blocks. The electrical feed is 50-amp service split to two 30-amp connections. For backup, additional 50 ft. 30-amp power cords.

Engine Details and Mechanical Equipment:

Easy access and working room. Gone With the Wind is easily powered by a most reliable Perkins 85 HP diesel 4.236 engine. She was factory rebuilt in 2018 and has only 500 hours. The engine has been serviced every 150 hours. The two fuel tanks utilize a Racor fuel filter. The low-rise exhaust elbows and pot all new in 2018. The bilge has two pumps and an emergency high water alarm. The engine room has two lights and manual blower exhaust fan. Above the engine is an automatic, Halon fire extinguisher, 2019. There are numerous fire and carbon monoxide detectors throughout the boat. Inside the roomy engine room is a 75-gal custom aluminum port side fuel tank, 2019. Also, the refrigerator/ freezer motors for the galley are located on the port side. Smoke alarms throughout the boat. The engine room can be accessed from the cockpit area and from two large sliding doors in the aft companionway. All cabling for steering was new in 2019.
