DESCRIPTION

BEST KIND is the best opportunity in terms of value in the current market to own a yacht capable of a 4,500 nautical mile range at 8.5 knots. Her 5’6” draft and bulbous bow eliminates the 7 foot plus draft issues of similar looking sisterships in this size range, like Nordhavns. Built to Lloyds Germany Standards, with CE certification, under the direction of a U.S. Naval Architect, and with the status of Ocean Class A, her owners brought the yacht from the Netherlands to North America and have cruised in excess of 12,000 nautical miles since their purchase of the yacht in 2019.

Her awlgripped finish in 2016 is gleaming and presents the yacht as much newer than her build year. The level of redundant systems is extraordinary. The Continuous Duty D-rated Caterpillarhp engines, rather than the standard 800 horsepower rating of this series, easily provide 25,000 plus hours of operation. Besides a very large and comfortable pilothouse with a day berth, BEST KIND has wing stations, port and starboard, with all controls that facilitate docking and maneuverability. Built for all weather conditions, with a redundant dual chilled water AC and a Kabola heating system, the extent of the additional layers of insulation insures the least amount of energy necessary to control the interior temperature and also provides sound deadening from exterior sounds.

The retractable 12’ Besenzoni passarelle is an asset in stern to docking, and the oversized dual capstan windlass, with 5/8” chain, and 350 pound galvanized anchors would more likely be found on a 100’ yacht. This yacht, at nearly 100 tons, is more than capable of comfortable safe anchoring in all conditions. Both large gray water and black water capacities also provide many days at anchor, even in very restricted areas where these tanks cannot be dispersed. The recent addition of an increased water maker capacity to 1,800 gallons per day is also a major asset.

While the previous two sisterships to BEST KIND had three staterooms forward, which diminished their size of each stateroom, the original owners chose a full beam master to take advantage of the vessels 20’4” beam, and a very large VIP forward. These two staterooms, along with a cabin aft for crew or guests/family, plus the large day berth in the pilothouse provide comfortable accommodation.

Capable of easily adapting to U.S. voltage or other voltage requirements, the electrical system has multiple redundant chargers, inverters, isolation transformers, and two 25kw relatively low hour generators, as well as a small generator for battery and system charging at anchor in conjunction with two solar panels.

BEST KIND is essentially a ship with watertight bulkheads and with a yacht interior, and has easily been handled by her owners, who with their long time background in cruising, have kept her up with exceptional maintenance, many upgrades to both machinery, systems and décor, amounting to approximately $500,000 since 2019.

BEST KIND recently left South Florida, and is on her way to Nova Scotia, and ultimately to the owners’ home destination in Newfoundland in late July. Arrangements can be made to preview BEST KIND, while she is cruising north. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to own a world-cruising yacht at a small fraction of her replacement cost.

ELECTRICAL
  • AC System: 230VAC 50Hz. When on shore power or battery, the entire boat is running via inverters with the exception of the battery chargers, chillers and water heater. This combined with the isolation transformer provides excellent protection against power interruptions, surges and dockside grounding issues. It also permits a lower capacity shore power because the amount of power coming onboard has a controllable peak and the average consumption can thereby determine the shore power peak capacity. This system permits any shore power in the range ofVAC 50hz or 60hz. Additionally, 120VAC can be utilized with two sources via an included combiner.
