About this ELIZABETHAN 33
A traditional long-keeled cruising yacht, the Elizabethan 33 is one of many now classic long-keel designs from the 1960s/70s. The Elizabethan 33 is slightly longer and possibly prettier than the better known Nicholson 32, but also a little lighter and shallower draught, so more useful to some.
With a bit of work she'll be a great wee family cruiser and ready for the season.
Full DetailsDescription
Elizabethan, designed by David Thomas - a great example of a boat that has great potential for cruising and racing alike. The boat has been ashore since October 2019.
The Elizabethans inordinate sailing capabilities are not hindered by her comfortable and practical accommodation arrangements below deck 6.3" head clearance.
Exe Avon is powered by a suit of well kept sails, a roller reefed jib and a reliable Watermoto Sea Panther. All the usual instruments can be found at the nav station and the galley is well-appointed with an oven, stove and fridge. Exe Avon sleeps 5 and is ready for viewing in Co Down, Northern Ireland on her boatyard trailer. The trailer is also for sale along with an existing mooring available. The sails where taken down and stored ashore. 1 x main sail 2 x genoa 2 x Spinnakers 1 x storm jib. These boats were built for ocean sailing so providing safe sailing in coastal waters.
With a bit of project work she'll be a great wee family cruiser; great sized cockpit with good storage.
Construction
GRP Hull and Decks
Designer – David Thomas
Builder – Drummond-Bayne Marine (Southampton)
Long keel with external iron ballast keel - Recent 1/2" Brass Sump Drain Plug In Keel (2019)
Tiller Steering
Solid GRP hull using woven rovings, with a bolt-on external iron ballast keel. The deck and cockpit moulding are also GRP, with balsa cores in horizontal areas, replaced with ply core in stress areas for fitting. Like almost all GRP boats of this era, the hull mouldings are much more heavily built than modern production yachts.
