Boat Overview
This aluminium long distance sailing yacht was built in 1984 by Dewar Marine in Cape Town to a Jim Dewar design. It is currently out of the water for refurbishment.
Ownership History
Purchased by two brothers, the yacht was used as a live aboard in South Africa. It was eventually sailed back to Bristol via Madagascar and Ibiza. The present owner acquired the yacht in 2003 and brought her ashore for a complete rebuild and renovation that took eleven years.
Renovation Details
During the refurbishment period from 2003-2013, the interior was completely stripped out and had sprayed on insulation applied throughout. All interior joinery was replaced with marine ply veneered and edged with ash, resulting in a bright and comfortable interior of the highest quality.
Engine and Mechanical Features
- Original BMW engine replaced with a new Vetus 42hp diesel
- Less than 90 hours of use on the new engine
- First service recently completed
- Complete refit of instruments including:
- Raymarine log/depth tri data
- Chart plotter
- Wind speed direction
- Auto pilot
- Furuno radar
- ICOM VHF with DSC
- Recent improvements:
- Bow thruster
- Copper coat anti-fouling
- Powered windlass
- Wind turbine
- Hydraulic steering
- Wind Pilot steering system fitted on the transom (all parts available to commission this system)
- Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon (EPIRB) added
Survey and Documentation
The yacht was surveyed in 2012. Proof of VAT paid in the EU is available.
Accommodation
The accommodation comprises a total of seven berths in three cabins:
- Double in the fore cabin
- Three quarter berth in the port side aft cabin
- Single in the starboard side quarter berth
- Two saloon berths with a table and settee berths around it
Heads and Galley
The separate heads compartment is fitted with:
- Vetus marine toilet
- Wash basin
- Shower
- Holding tank with macerator pump
The spacious galley is equipped with:
- Force Ten four burner cooker with oven
- Top loading fridge
- Sink with pressurized hot and cold water
An Eberspacher heater is present, which the owner has chosen not to connect.
