The design actually dates from before the War but the commissioning owner was so impressed with the sailing characteristics of her earlier sister ship he had another built much later, albeit with an extended coachroof to increase the interior volume. In present ownership for nearly 20 years, she has cruised every summer from her south coast base and has been maintained on an annual basis. This is a well found and well equipped cruising yacht with impeccable lines and superb sailing characteristics. Her rig is easily managed with a roller furling genoa, boomed staysail and no running backstays. The mast is exceptionally tall giving very good light air performance but when reefed she will beat to windward comfortably even in very windy conditions. An elegant classic yacht of nice pedigree, well cared for and in sailing commission ready for the season. Length on Deck 41'3" Length Overall 41'3" Length Waterline 31' Beam 10'8" Draft 6'3" Thames Tonnage 16TM     Construction Planked in Pitch Pine fastened with copper rivets to Canadian Rock Elm sawn frames at 36" centres with 3 steamed intermediate timbers. External iron ballast keel with wrought iron bolts fitted new in 2009. Iron strap floors across the centreline. Compete plan of exactly when each bolt was replaced and which ones will need checking next. Original yacht laid teak deck sanded back and overlaid with marine plywood, epoxy glued down and sheathed externally in epoxy glass cloth giving a totally watertight and low maintenance deck. This work was done in 2006. Varnished teak superstructure with a raised doghouse aft into a low coachroof with bronze framed windows and portholes. Epoxy sheathed plywood coachroof deck, doghouse roof replaced entirely and coachroof re-sheathed in 2008. Teak handrails and dorade vent boxes on the coachroof. Steel ring frame either side of the mast for added strength. Self draining cockpit, completely rebuilt in 2004. Varnished thwarts either side lift giving access to deep lockers. Wheel steering on a pedestal with Vetus manual hydraulics to a ram on the quadrant.     Rig Bermudan cutter rig on a keel stepped varnished wooden hollow mast. Hollow varnished wooden roller reefing boom with bronze worm drive. Boomed staysail with a single sheet running aft and a bronze track across the coachroof. Genoa or jib from stemhead to masthead with a Harken roller furling system, fitted new in 2015. Stainless Steel standing rigging, all new in 2013 to internal galvanised chain plates. Main backstay from 2005. No running backstays, she instead has fixed shrouds to the second spreaders that are swept aft to give support to the mast in way of the inner forestay. Running rigging all in good order and replaced as necessary. All new within the last 9 years. Mainsail, Staysail and genoa all in tan terylene, approximately 1997 by Lucas Sails and well maintained. Numerous other sails include No.1 jib, No.3 jib, ghoster and storm trysail. Also older spare mainsail, genoa and 2 x jibs. Pair of Andersen 46 2 speed self tailing cockpit sheet winches. 3 Barlow mast winches for the halyards.     Machinery Perkins 4108 42hp 4cyl diesel installed new in 1974. Borg Warner hydraulic gearbox to a fixed 2 blade bronze propeller gives 5 knots cruising speed.
