"Shades" was built using the traditional boat building method of cypress strip planking which is epoxy glued and nailed with hot dip galvanized ring shank nails. The epoxy and modern day high-tec glass, and carbon fibers that reinforce the stress points,were used to encapsulate the inner and outer layers of the hull.

"Shades" is design number 78 by Sam Crocker (which was created circa 1925) and built by Dan Goller. The hull has been faithfully built to Sam's lines. Interior, cabin trunk,cockpit and hardtop were inspired by three vessels: 32' 1926 Eldridge McInnis, 28' 1928 Richardson, and a 27' 1930 Elco. This is a very special boat for the right owner! Outboard, which is aft of the rudder, utilizes Ezy Glide stick steering which allows for precision docking maneuvers. Engine: 2015 Suzuki (DF 20 ARL), 20 hp, four stroke, EFI fuel injected, electric or hand start,12 amp alternator, long shaft,with 4 blade high thrust prop. Running Lights are new antique Perko's . Stern light/anchor light is custom built beehive style globe on a 5 foot mahogany flagstaff with a 3x5 American flag.The Mast system has a tabernacle at the deck and a unique design allows it to be raised and lowered by a single person.Deck ForwardDeck Forward: CQR 20 lbs. with 12' hot dipped galvanized chain & 150' of 1/2” nylon rode. Danforth 20 lbs. with 12' hot dipped galvanized chain & 125' of 5/8” nylon rode. Self bailing anchor well for safe handling of ground tackle. Teak (1' x 5') bowsprit for anchor handling/storage, forward boat access, club burgee & attachment point for fore stay via bob stay to stainless steel thru bolted towing eye.
