"Kelly V" is an excellent example of a Custom Carolina Sportfish. Her hull was designed and built in Harkers Island, NC by Willis Boatworks, and her interior was completed nearby at the Jarrett Bay Yard. Since completion, "Kelly V" has also been upgraded and maintained by Huckins Yachts in Jacksonville, Florida.
With a signature Carolina hull design, a large cockpit, and an expansive flybridge, "Kelly V" has everything needed for serious offshore fishing.

Since completion, "Kelly V" has also been upgraded and maintained by Huckins Yachts in Jacksonville, Florida.
With a signature Carolina hull design, a large cockpit, and an expansive flybridge, "Kelly V" has everything needed for serious offshore fishing. The cockpit houses a Release Marine fighting chair, an ice chipper, fishbox, and mezzanine seating, along with tremendous amounts of storage for tackle and gear. For the captain, the flybridge has an impressive setup, with two Furuno NavNet displays, a Northstar GPS and chart plotter, and a Simrad autopilot system.
If the fishing features were not enough, the interior of this boat is completely remarkable. The interior features a large salon with two sofas, a peninsula galley with bar seating, a generous master stateroom, starboard guest berths, and crossover berths forward.

The following equipment is flush mounted in two electrically retractable electronics boxes on centerline, just forward of the helm.
As you enter the salon you are first drawn to the cherry-wood and burled-wood joinery. The woodwork is expertly crafted and gives the space a warm and rich feel. The space is open and inviting with plenty of light from the large windows port, starboard and aft. The interior has a practical and masculine island theme that is very tasteful and quite attractive. The two settees are covered in black ultra-leather that can withstand a wet bathing suit. The plush sculptured carpet is in a camel color and is protected by a clear snap-in cover.
The galley is an integral part of the salon and offers a large counter with three stools for dinning. The dark Baltic Brown solid surface counters are beautiful and help to set-off the cherry and burled wood cabinets. The galley features all the appliances you will likely need while aboard including a Sub-Zero stainless steel refrigerator with separate freezer, both with dual pull-out drawers.
The island theme is continued into the master stateroom with the earthy green palm tree wallpaper and attractive accent pillows on the double berth. The cherry wood cabinetry and trim works perfectly with the decor.
The master head is nicely proportioned and features a roomy stall shower. The space is tastefully decorated with a marlin themed earth-tone wallpaper, wooden sole & cabinetry and Baltic Brown counter.
At the forward end of the passageway is the bow stateroom with offset single berths and great storage. As with the other guest berths, this open arrangement makes the maximum use out of the space and doesn't compartmentalize the berth areas with doors. Instead the area is open and flows from one to the other.
This guest space is actually part of the passageway forward and offers to very spacious upper and lower single berths. This arrangement is very typical of the custom Carolina style boat and offers a maximum use of space.
The guest head is at the aft end of the passageway on starboard, directly across from the master stateroom. The head has a long Baltic Brown counter, cherry wood cabinets & sole and a tropical themed wallpaper. The stall shower gives plenty of elbow room and does have a molded-in seat. There is plenty of storage in numerous cabinets.
You will love the alligator wallpaper in this space. The base color is an off-white which keeps the area bright and the print on the paper is alligator skin in a pale brown & grey, which blends perfectly with the other spaces.
Kelly V hull construction is strip planked using glued Juniper and Cypress woods to thickness of 1 1/2" on the bottom and 1" on the sides. Entire hull exterior and hull interior bottom is covered with fiberglass with painted cosmetic finish. The hull grid system is laid-out with a 5 1/2" square keelson; bottom frames of 3 1/2" x 5 1/2" on 18" centers; side frames of 1 3/4" x 5 1/2" on 18" centers. The hull to deck joint is framed and glued. There are three continuous transverse bulkheads located at the anchor locker and fore & aft in the engine room (non-watertight). The decks and superstructure are solid and wood composite corners with seams glassed and remainder epoxy resin soaked with painted cosmetic finish.
