Model: 1989 Covey Island Motorsailor CHANTEY II

Design: Original 1933 design by William Hand, Jr.

Construction: Built for the Wheeler Shipbuilding Company, intended for offshore sword fishing.

• Complete set of plans obtained from the Hart Nautical Museum of MIT.
• Rights to produce one vessel to these plans were negotiated.
• Original drawings followed closely (lines and scantlings).
• Modern cold-molded strip-planking materials and techniques used throughout hull construction.
• Interior layout modified for comfortable long-range cruising.

Owners stepped aboard for the first time in 1989. Since then, they have:

• Cruised extensively along the US Eastern seaboard.
• Explored The Canadian Maritimes.
• Traveled through The Great Lakes.
• Spent winters in the Bahamas and Florida's East Coast.

In 2017, CHANTEY II's owners moved ashore to pursue a different path in life. However, CHANTEY II has remained in the water under careful watch. Regular maintenance has been provided by a professional yacht captain and maintenance contractor.

CHANTEY II is now being offered for sale. The sellers hope she will become the property of another adventuresome couple who will continue her voyages.
