DESCRIPTION

The Contessa 34 OOD is a well-proven offshore capable cruiser racer from the renowned Jeremy Rogers yard. Sky Flash is in good sound condition and comes with a solid inventory, including a recent Yanmar engine and Raymarine electronics. This is a fantastic opportunity to acquire a fast cruising boat or a competitive club racer at a reasonable price.

Accommodation

The accommodation provides 7 berths across two cabins with a maximum headroom of 6'1". The forepeak features folding berths to port and starboard, typically used for sail stowage, and includes a large hatch to the foredeck. There is a hanging locker to port, with a molded heads compartment opposite that is fitted with a marine toilet and washbasin. The saloon has settee berths and pilot berths outboard to port and starboard, flanking a large folding table with drop leaves. The galley to port is equipped with a Plastimo Neptune 2000 stainless steel gimballed 2-burner gas cooker with grill and oven, a stainless steel sink with pressurized hot and cold water heated by a calorifier off the engine, an Isotherm fridge, and ample stowage. A chart table is located to port with a single quarter berth aft that can be extended with an infill to create a small double berth. The upholstery is in blue.

Mechanical Systems

Located abaft the companionway, the Yanmar 3YM30 3-cylinder 29hp diesel engine was new in 2005/6. It features single lever controls with electric start and a shaft drive to a 2-bladed feathering propeller. The fuel tank is stainless steel with a capacity of 46 litres. The engine has approximately 300 engine hours and was last serviced in 2016.

Sails & Spars

The mainsail has slab reefing with lazyjacks, and there is a Furlex headsail furling system.

Construction

The Contessa 34 OOD was built around 1979/80 by Contessa Yachts to a Doug Peterson design, hull number 14. It features a blue GRP/carbon fibre injection moulded hull with a white stern and superstructure, along with painted non-slip decks. The cast iron fin keel has a shallower draft than the original keel, approximately 5', with increased weight. The boat has tiller steering to a spade hung rudder and a self-draining cockpit.
