DESCRIPTION

39 Camper & Nicholson Masthead Ketch 1976

The Nicholson 39 is a sailboat designed by the British maritime architect bureau Camper & Nicholson in collaboration with Raymond Wall from Canada, in the mid-1970s. Less than 70 boats have been produced.

The Nicholson 39 is built with a ketch rig, which is considered easier to handle because it has smaller sails and can sail on most points to the wind with one sail completely taken down. The sail configuration of a ketch allows for better comfort and stability when sailing downwind or on a broad reach.

She has a long keel, which provides better directional stability than a similar boat with a fin keel. On the other hand, this also means that the boat is more difficult to handle in a harbour with limited space.
