~MiSCHKA~ ex HALUA + ex SEEADLER was built at the Burger Boat Company in Manitowoc, Wisconsin in 1966, one of the very best aluminum yacht builders in the world. Sparkman & Stephens yacht designers were in their prime, designing for the titans of that era. She was designed as an ocean-going auxiliary motorsailor cutter ketch, built to the highest standards of quality and craftsmanship. The build pedigree of this yacht is stellar!
Between 2014 and 2016 the vessel was rebuilt at Lauderdale Marine Center, completely gutted/sandblasted to bare aluminum, surveyed; about 30% of the tanks and bottom were re-plated. Awlgrip/Awlcraft paint systems were applied throughout.
Every piece of equipment inside the yacht was replaced with top-of-the-line products. The deck house was removed and was artfully redesigned to a flush deck house center and aft cockpit profile above and at her beautiful sheer line using sections of the original S&S Burger structures.
The interior configuration was transformed into an expansive, wide-open, light-bathed, 2 bed/2 ensuite bath modern bamboo, beach house cruising villa. She can reach anywhere there is 5’6” of water with the centerboard up (15' with centerboard down) and 64’ of air draft (Bahamas & ICW Friendly).
~MiSCHKA~ spent the next 7 years after her rebuild in the Exumas with her owner loving living aboard, mostly off the grid. She was chock-a-block with toys, family and friends. The owners are building their dream house now with more kids on the way.
~MiSCHKA~ is not for every sailor, but she is a thoroughly transformed modern classic for visionary adventurers looking for a big, bold and distinctive yacht that can travel almost anywhere.
ENGINE ROOM EQUIPMENTALL NEW ENGINE ROOM.
Engine room was stripped and sand blasted to bare metal, then Awl-craft white bilge paint system applied.
Entire yacht was Sound Down insulated to below waterline in 2014. Extra sound and fire insulation applied in the engine room.
All 1st class marine equipment and installations.
Access to the engine room is through a hatch on gas shocks in the main salon. There is complete access and lighting around the main engine and all other engine room equipment. Although it is not a stand up engine room, there is plenty of room for comfortable, extended engine room activities. This is not a tight engine room!
ACCOMMODATIONSThe yacht was totally refitted and customized between 2014 to 2016 to have a spacious and wide open interior, inspiring an expansive beach house villa. When the original motorsailer salon house was removed, the deck house profile and salon floor were lowered 3 feet to create a one step deck level Irioko hard wood floor throughout the interior. Sweeping cabin-side windows, 5 opening deck hatches, 14 opening port lights, and 16 hull windows flood the interior with endless lighting hues of the bamboo and Irioko finishes.
All the way forward is the chain locker with a water tight bulkhead. Access is from a foredeck hatch and from the forward guest shower forward bulkhead.
The ensuite guest head is aft of the chain locker with shower, a Techna electric flush fresh water toilet and sink, new in 2016 port and starboard with storage locker. The full width private forward guest stateroom has a queen bed to port with reading lamp and a settee/bunk to starboard, and full height linen/medical locker.
In the main cabin forward to port is the U-shaped dining salon with teak dining table and storage underneath the seats. To starboard is a settee/single berth/music nook. Two overhead opening hatches with Oceanaire shade/screens and 4 opening portlights provide copious cross-ventilation.
To port, aft of the dining area in the main salon is the L-shaped 8' settee and a slatted teak coffee table with a Benq movie projector system under the coffee table. The starboard main salon is similarly arranged with a 10' roll down movie screen overhead. There are 8 fixed hull windows in the hull sides of the main salon. The main companionway stairs from the cockpit gently descend to the center line of the aft end of the main salon. Outboard to port of the companionway stairs is a full length equipment locker. On the aft side of the equipment locker is the main electrical switchboard and monitoring panel.
One step down, to port, aft of the main salon is the fully modern galley. There is an 8' bamboo countertop outboard with 2 hull windows and 2 opening port lights for light and ventilation. Forward below the counter are 2 Isotherm refrigerator drawers, 7 cu. ft. total, new in 2016. Aft of the refrigerators are 8 under counter drawers full of quality pots, pans, cutlery, table settings, utensils, etc. Inboard to port, the galley forward has the stainless steel galley sink with Moen telescoping faucet. There is a cutaway to tuck into and get out of the galley traffic while using the sink. Aft of the galley sink there is a dish rack. Aft of the dish rack is the Force 10 3-burner/broiler/oven, also new in 2016 with a foldaway stove cover.
To starboard, aft of the main salon outboard is a work counter with an under-counter 3.5 cu. ft. Isotherm freezer drawer, new in 2016.
Aft of the work counter is a hanging locker. Inboard, aft of the galley sink are the separate Miele washer and dryer units under the bamboo galley counter.
Inboard, aft of the galley is the master head with walk in rainwater shower (with peek-a-boo window-light), Dometic Master Flush 8600 electric freshwater toilet, sink with full linen/medicine locker and opening port light to the main cockpit. This is a spacious hotel-like bathroom with equivalent amenities.
The full-beam master stateroom aft has port and starboard entrances. It features a full queen sized bed with port and starboard access to the over-stuffed bed. To port are a full height hanging locker and more than ample clothing drawers. To starboard is a settee with end tables and lamp. There is an overhead opening hatch with 4 opening port lights and 4 hull lights beautifully bathing this spacious master stateroom in natural light. There is a third access door aft to starboard that leads through the lazarette/work room to the aft cockpit, to the water.

Teak decks replaced around 1996 with massive 1 ¼” Burmese teak decking. Over ¾” thickness currently remains with many years life left on the decks. The teak decks need refreshing.
Hull & BOTTOMAbout 30% of the aluminum hull bottom was replaced in 2014 after survey recommendations. The exterior and interior were sand blasted, 8 barrier coats of epoxy, fairing and more epoxy again. Awlcraft primer and paint systems were applied. During the same yard period all tanks were sand blasted, tested, repaired + replaced as needed and properly coated. She needs to be hauled + bottom painted.
The bottom configuration is a predecessor to Ted Hood's Whale Bottom with center board and a flanking rudder for fine-tuning and enhancing reverse control (not currently connected). "A real sweet boat to sail. Beautiful sea motion, beautiful lines." From a super experienced Captain who sailed her for 3 years.
The hull sides and house were painted in 2016 with Awlgrip/Awlcraft paint system. It needs compound and wax. Aluminum rub rail is robust. Toe rail is teak. Main deck hand rails are removed and stored on board.
SAILS & RIGSAILS & RIG

SUMMARY~MiSCHKA~ has an impeccable build pedigree! She was REBUILT between 2014 and 2016 using the finest equipment and materials available. ~MiSCHKA~ is a classic yacht with thoroughly modern equipment, materials and great contemporary style.
She will need some attention to her decks, need bottom painted and some interior detailing. This being said, where can you find a pedigreed 70'+ sailing yacht with all this new equipment and a thoroughly fresh modern interior for under $500,000 USD!
This liveaboard yacht broker who has logged over 40,000 sea miles was skeptical at first, until I stepped aboard and realized how big and beautiful and reliable she is, and what a completely cool interior with all this new stuff! She will make such a fantastic long range liveaboard cruising yacht that can tuck into many anchorages that many 50'ers cannot!
~MiSCHKA~ appeals to the gutsy, experienced sailor that has no intention of being tied to a dock (or does, and wants to do it big) and is looking for big adventures. Take a deeper dive into these specifications, then please inquire further if ~MiSCHKA~ turns you on. Thx. Enjoy.
