The Achilles 840 was maybe known as "the connoisseur's choice" back in 1982 but she has always been known for being forgiving and fun giving. She offers a great blend of seaworthiness and performance that makes her a perfect East Coast cruiser. Offers up to 5 berths onboard.

The traditional layout offers up to 5 berths. Up forward is the double V berth with storage underneath and deck opening hatch. The heads comes next, aft of the double berth, with a chemical toilet with a 21 litre holding capacity. Hanging locker opposite to port.
In the saloon there are two single settee berths either side of a folding table. Good storage in and around the saloon. In the port quarter is the L shaped galley with twin sinks, 2 burner gas cooker with grill. Coolbox. Electrically pumped water supply. 125 litre water capacity in two tanks (25l + 100l each).
In the starboard quarter, is the aft facing chart table with switch panel. Single quarter berth behind.
Located under the companionway stairs is the Buhk diesel engine. Single cylinder, 10 hp, seawater cooled, shaft driven to a folding 2 bladed propellor. Single lever control. 60 litre fuel capacity in a plastic tank. Regularly serviced by owners.

The Achilles 840 was built in 1982 by Achilles Yachts Ltd to a design of Chris Butler. Creme GRP hull with a cast iron fin keel. Skeg hung rudder. The creme deck is GRP with a balsa core & moulded non-slip. Tiller steering. New cabin windows in 2019.
