Sea Ray 240 Sundeck Review

The Sea Ray 240 Sundeck is a deck boat that offers premium fit, finish and design throughout, with generous space for entertaining or relaxing in style and comfort. A cockpit entertainment centre and extended swim platform make the Sea Ray 240 Sundeck a versatile boat for a great day on the water for a family or a large party of up to 13 people. There is abundant storage space with two floor lockers and bins underneath seats, plus an enclosed head compartment with lockable door. As one of the most popular and affordable models in the Sea Ray sports deck range, a 240 Sundeck makes a great second-hand buy.

Who and what was this boat designed for?

The Sea Ray 240 Sundeck is designed for cruising, water sports or entertaining in coastal waters, rivers and estuaries. This 21-degree deep-V boat offers great handling and a smooth ride, even in rough seas. A sun pad and swim platform make the 240 Sundeck an ideal boat for wakeboarding, tubing or swimming while the boat is at anchor. It has the performance to pull water-skiers, even with a large party on board. In tests, the outboard version has recorded top speeds of around 60 miles per hour and accelerates from zero to 30 in 6.8 seconds. The boat has an optional tower that incorporates racks for wakeboards, water-skis and other water sports equipment.

What commentators say about this boat

This deck boat is set up for maximum comfort and convenience for up to 13 people with praiseworthy fit and finish.

The rest of the 240 Sundeck is more or less what you’d expect in a Sea Ray boat. Smart design. Desirable features. Fine details.

The concept of a small-sized premium bowrider is almost a contradiction in terms.

Sea Ray decided that customers deserved a better set of choices beyond color schemes for an entry-level size range and created what may be the only choice for those looking for upscale features

My pick for “flat-out most fun to drive” was the 240 Sundeck Outboard.

Eleven years of tubing, waterskiing, joyrides.... and still runs great. The perfect lakeboat.

Model variations

The Sea Ray Sundeck is available with sterndrive or outboard options. The two versions are almost identical apart from a seat pad and swim steps on the outboard and a full-width sun pad and swim platform on the sterndrive model.
