Sparkman & Stephens NY 32, 45 ft classic A unique beautiful newly built classic. SERIOUS OFFER ASKED> In the mid 1930s the New York Yacht Club commissioned Sparkman & Stephens to design a new one-design and twenty of the now historic sailing yachts, known as the NY32 class were built by the boatyard of Henry B. Nevins of City Island, New York. None had been built since, until permission was given for the building of MASQUERADE as a one-time exception by Sparkman & Stephens. The result is considered a valued addition to the class and thus hull number 21 has been assigned. Many of the original fittings are used. She is simply breath taking and very fast! The boat is launched in 2010, is built stronger and more stiff than the 20 boats built in the past and needs much less maintenance because of the construction method. Masquerade is better than the originals and only high quality materials have been used. Why call a perfect rendition of a timeless design a masquerade? According to owner and builder Pieter van der Aa; because the first twenty yachts built to this design were all constructed traditionally, plank on frame, while - though it is a wooden yacht - MASQUERADE is strip planked and epoxy sheathed; a modern rendition so to speak. The use of these modern materials cannot be readily discerned from the outside and hence the builders subtle admission of the ruse through her name. Launched in 2010 following a 6 year building period, this is a truly magnificent wooden yacht. The end result is proof of the time and effort spent combined with the builders obvious feel for the materials used. This yacht is furnished in the style of the era in which she was designed; simple and very functional. There is no great luxury as she is principally for sailing. It would however be easy to install modern comforts. The ship is equipped with many very beautiful bronze, as was used in the ships of the 30s. The builder has bought the NY32 no. 13 that was byond repair and used the usable original materials. For example, there are gorgeous bronze line guides on both sides, bronze pulpit, bronze mooring cleat, bronze winches on pedestals, bronze pulpit etc. The boat is as new and will be delivered ready-to-go.General: Sparkman & Stephens New York 32, 45 ft, name Masquerade, design Sparkman & Stephens, builder Pieter van der Aa, launched in 2010, dimensions: 13.82 x 3.20 x 2,10 m, weight 11.000 kg, ballast keel from NY32, construction material wood/epoxy, red cedar strip planking epoxy sheathed inside and out, white oak backbone transom and deck beams, alaska yellow cedar deck, teak superstructure and deck house, mahogany interior joinery, yellow cedar ca, accommodation in summary is 7 berths in 2 cabins, main cabins with 1.95 m headroom under white painted deck head and contrasting brightwork deck beams.
