DESCRIPTION

Remarks : Sparkman & Stephens have been responsible for designing highly desirable, fast sailing yachts with beautiful lines that have stood the test of time and give as much pleasure today as they did when released to the yachting public many years ago. This S&S 6.6 is no exception and if a fast, stable cruiser/racer is your vessel of choice then look no further. This yacht has been in its present ownership for the last 29 years and has been lovingly maintained to a high standard. The yacht has seen constant upgrade and modernisation whilst maintaining the pedigree and vision that the designers had for her. Built in Finland by A.A-Boat she has a heavy lay up hull and encapsulated lead keel. Large cockpit with "Tek Dek" finish. Smart navy blue painted topsides and gel shielded hull below the waterline. Keel stepped rig with gold anodised boom and spinnaker pole. Roller furling gear added in 2008 making single or short handed sailing a possibility. Economical Yanmar diesel with sail drive in excellent order. Below decks provides berths for 4/5 persons and has 6 foot standing headroom. Accommodation : Below decks has seen a lot of change over the past couple of years. The result is a bright comfortable space with 6 foot standing headroom. The accommodation is for 5 but is better suited to 4 adults. The main saloon is entered from the cockpit. Immediately to starboard is the galley area with gas fuelled 2-burner hob (2011), 600w microwave oven (2015), sink with hand pumped fresh water and foot pumped salt water faucets. Opposite is the chart table/nav station with switch panel, chart storage and chart reading light. The saloon seating/berths have well upholstered foam covered in ivory PVC (2016) Slightly offset drop leaf table for dining. Through the forward bulkhead is a heads compartment to port and a hanging space opposite. Two berths in forward cabin. All interior wood has been revarnished in 2016 and the headlinings were renewed in 2015 to a very high standard incorporating 15mm of insulation. There is a Waeco 25L chest fridge/freezer which can run of either 12V or 240V.(2015) 1Kw inverter added in 2013. 2x Camping gas bottles in self draining locker. 12V interior lighting and a 240V fluorescent light in saloon. Inventory : Well equipped yacht with good inventory including Steel boat cradle. Encapsulated lead keel with bronze shoe. Skeg supported rudder with tiller steering. Underwater areas treated with Gelshield in 1995 and again in 2010 as a preventative measure. Large self bailing cockpit painted with 2-pack paint and attractively finished with "Tek Dek" in 2006.Good storage with lockers port and starboard and at the stern. The raised coachroof was painted with 2-pack paint in 2014 and the saloon and forward hatch windows were replaced in 2015. Engine & Electrics: Vessel had new propulsion installed in 1997. The choice was the extremely reliable and economical Yanmar 2GM20 with Sail Drive unit. Surprisingly the engine proved defective and was replaced under warranty in 1998. The engine is well maintained and has only completed 641 hours. The fuel is stored in a stainless steel tank and is pre-filtered before reaching the engine. 2-Bladed folding bronze propeller to minimise drag. Bank of 3x 12V batteries providing dedicated engine start and domestic power. 2x 110ah domestic (2015) and 70ah engine start (2013) These are fitted with isolators and recharged via engine alternator or by dedicated solar charge systems introduced 2006 and 2014.
