cutter-ketch motorsailer
The renowned Dutch naval Architect Bekebrede is well known for his rigid and seaworthy designs. This sturdy ketch-cutter rigged Danish Rose 312 motor sailer built for all weather and will certainly enable you to cross wide open waters and explore distant horizons. The boat is technical and cosmetic well maintained. The deck is accessible with non-skid painted side-decks. There are two helm positions; one in the cockpit with a tiller, and one in the cabin with a hydraulic steering wheel. You thus have the choice to steering outside in fair weather, or find a well sheltered spot in the heated cockpit in bad weather. The rig is modern and it is easy to reef the sails thanks to the lazy jacks. The jib is on a roller, so it is quickly removed. The jib is self tacking and sailing upwind is quite easy. The advantage of the chosen rig is that it positions the sail pressure point low and this contributes to the stability of the yacht. Besides the bowsprit is a beautiful mechanical anchor winch is on the foredeck, which certainly contributes to the tough looks of the boat. The interior with professionally made teak carpentry shows not many traces of use and is still in good shape considering the age. To port is the inside steering position where one has good overview on the boat and over the water. All navigation equipment including a modern chartplotter and engine instruments are within reach. To the right is a table with a buddy seat. Two steps down leads into the galley with double sink, oven and cooler. Opposite is the head with toilet, sink and shower. The salon has beautiful dark blue upholstery. In the bow is a fixed double berth. Port side, behind the helm is a real pilot berth where one can sleep at sea. This area can obviously also be used as extra storage space. The salon sofa's have lee-cloths so two extra beds can be made here. The Danish Rose 31 Motorsailor is a solid seaworthy yacht and an eye-catcher. It unites nautical nostalgia with modern technology and is a joy to sail. It is big enough for a family, and small enough for one to sail single handed. We invite you to make an appointment at enkhuizen@wwy.nl for a visit in Den Helder to come and see her.
