Accommodation

Offering up to five berths, the forward cabin's berths converts to a double berth by means of an in-filling cushion, both settee berths in the main cabin are provided with lee cloths. with a quarter berth aft to starboard. There is an aft-facing folding chart table.

A relatively large and workable galley features two sinks (good for draining and stowage purposes when at sea) with a moulded draining area too. A  fully gimbaling Flavel B700C two burner cooker with oven and grill is fitted.

Good stowage provision is offered by a large, front-opening locker between the sinks and cooker (shelved within), cave locker beneath the cooker's aperture for pots and pans and even a significant run of crockery stowage running beneath the bridge deck. A top-opening cool box fits beneath the work surface, outboard of the sinks.

Woodwork throughout has been executed using teak-faced plywood and cappings and may fairly be described as being well presented, having been stripped and re-varnished within the last three year, while the deck-head linings are of vinyl, in good condition and all adhering well to independent headboards. The cushions have been re-covered and present well (see pictures at the end of these particulars).

History &Amp; Construction

A factory-completed example of this respected fast cruiser, CB II has been in the current and experienced ownership since Aug 2011 and has been a local boat, well known in the Plymouth area for considerably longer.

There have been many very good upgrades in recent years with a replacement Selden, deep-sectioned boom (with slab reefing) in 2005, a new Harken roller furling system with new forestay wire in late 2013, and new sails by Westaway also in late 2013.

Achillies 9 metres were constructed using hand-lay up methods and Isophthalic resins (very advanced for their time) and feature a deep keel sump to which the ballast keel is bolted (in a similar vein to the later and much bigger Starlight range of yachts). This feature alone puts the centre of gravity well below that expected of a yacht this size. The rudder is carried by a GRP skeg to lend greater support and protect its leading edge.

The deck moulding incorporates a moulded non-slip relief, but on this example, the grip has been enhanced by the application of diamond-patterned 'Treadmaster' to all deck surfaces and the cockpit sole.

The hull's topsides exhibit a notably good lustre and a wide, blue styling stripe has been re-painted and polished.
CB II is a particularly smart looking yacht.

Two 75 A/hr lead acid batteries are fitted within substantial wooden boxes located beneath the quarter berth and are selected through conventional rotary switch and isolated by means of simple double pole security switch. The batteries date from 2013 and Oct. 2014.
Charging is by means of the engine-mounted alternator when running.
