DESCRIPTION

Remarks : This is a big powerful boat, designed and built in 1981 for the first owner to undertake blue water voyages in comfort and safety. Her design and construction was focused towards creating a top class ocean yacht, and recent voyages with the present owner have proved her to be just that. Curtis and Pape built all manner of boats having started with fishing boats and diverging into the yachting market with many different designs of motor and sailing yachts.  The present owner undertook a major refit in 2006/2007 which included a complete new rig to a slightly altered design. The design work was carried out by the renowned Ed Burnett and saw several small changes that have improved the handling and performance of the boat. Many other big jobs were undertaken including removal and replacement of floors and floor bolts and new keel bolts. After that she completed a voyage to circumnavigate South America via the Magellan Straits which she did successfully, battling incredibly bad weather at times and clocking up very respectable daily log readings. The size and dimensions of the boat give her a lot of interior volume and make her a very comfortable yacht for extended periods. Sold with a full inventory for long distance sailing and a very impressive history. CONSTRUCTION: Hull Iron planing all copper rivet fastened to steamed oak frames. Heavy grown oak floors throughout all copper fastened. Galvanised steel mast step integrated with the floors spreads the load of the rig. Large section beam shelf with a clamp the full length of the hull makes the hull extremely stiff and strong. Deck and cockpit Large section sawn deck beams notched onto the beamshelf. Yacht laid teak deck screwed and glued to a marine plywood subdeck. Large cockpit with a self draining well and wheel steering on a central pedestal. Spray hood over the coachroof with a centreline companion hatch. Very large cockpit locker to port. Spacious lazaretto locker with a large hatch on the aft deck. Superstructure Varnished marine plywood coachroof coamings with reinforced glass windows recessed in. Forward coachroof with solid varnished mahogany coamings and an aluminium Lewmar hatch gives full standing headroom in the forecabin.   Accommodation : Berths 7 berths in 2 sleeping cabins and the saloon.  Forecabin with twin V berths and full standing headroom (newly painted in 2017). Cabin to port at the forward end of the saloon with a large double berth. 2 saloon berths.  Quarter berth to starboard. Saloon Companion steps down into the saloon over the engine box. U-shape settee berth to port with a collapsible saloon table.  All upholstery new in 2010. Passageway going forward on the starboard side with a single berth and substantial stowage lockers under the deckhead.
