Images released of the Queens jubilee barge
Images have been released of the Spirit of Chartwell, with the transformation to a royal barge having been designed by Joseph Bennett, and due to transport the Queen down the Thames during her Diamond Jubilee celebrations next year.
The flotilla will be one of a thousand travelling in the Queens honour.
The Queen will be joined on the barge by her husband, the Duke of Edinburgh, along with other members of the Royal family.
The barge will house the Queen and her husband underneath a gold canopy with 17th and 18th century style red drapes. Florally, the vessel will be decorated with a scheme of red, gold and purple designed by Rachel de Thame.
The boat itself is owned by Phillip Morrell: ‘As the Spirit of Chartwell evolved, I knew we had built something special - ideal, I thought, for the carriage of royalty, but little did I even vaguely suspect that in the course of one short year we should be graced with such an honour.’
