HMS Ark Royal to become artificial reef?

Suggestions have been made for the HMS Ark Royal to be sunk in Lyme Bay to form Britain’s largest artificial reef.

The Ministry of Defence is currently considering offers for the vessel. Although it is expected for a decision to be reached soon, the ship will still have a few years left before making her final voyage.

Should plans go ahead, Ark Royal will become the second largest artificial reef in the world. Just one behind the former US aircraft carrier Oriskany in Florida.
