ExtrasThis example of the Valiant 46 is a Ketch Rigged Bermudan Cutter; this rig is well balanced and is helpful for shorthanded sailing. The main Selden Kemp mast was stepped in September 2003, all the standing and running rigging was renewed and fitted by Foxes Rigging, Ipswich. Rock Folly was first commissioned at this time and made her maiden voyage from Foxes Marina, Ipswich. She was sailed as a sloop, until the Mizzen mast was stepped. The Z Spar Mizzen mast, standing and running rigging was supplied new in September 2005 and stepped at the same time.

The Ferro Hull was supplied by Ferro Marine Services of Burnham on Crouch and cast under the supervision of the designer Alan Hill. The present owner purchased the hull in November 1993. The fitting out took place over the next ten years using skilled trades people and high quality materials. The decks are of mahogany beams with two layers of 9mm marine ply and epoxy sheaved, for added strength and ease of fixing stantions and deck beams a solid mahogany beam shelf was laid on top of the existing cement beam shelf. This has resulted in a very strong construction and a good seal between the deck and hull.
