| Owner's Comments | ### Waeco fridge 80 litres, with cooling accumulator system and automatic battery control, if the batteries go down a certain voltage, cuts the batteries. You can choose to use the accumulator so can keep the fridge cold for 8 hours without using any energy. 4 opening side hatches (side of the boat) (one starboard aft berth, one port aft berth, 2 saloon. The tradition and breeding go back to the early sixties, when Southern Ocean Shipyard and Van de Stadt first joined forces to the GRP sailing cruisers and stablish a reputation for racing potential with the historic and aptly - named Pionier 9 and the equally distinguished Excalibur 36.<br />During the late sixties and early seventies, the same team turned its attention and expertise to thedevelopment of the Gallant 53 and Ocean 71 series, gaining international renown in this high flying world, and wining the LLoyd´s Award for outstanding design and supreme craftsmanship in the process.<br />Southern Ocean Shipyard returned to the sphere of its triumphs with the Van de Stadt racer/cruiser, Pioner 10, attuned to a technical knowledge and design philosophy. This Pionier 10 proved an inmediate succes by winning the Class IV Fastnet and RORC Championship in 1971.<br /> Spanker 12.8 is the exension of this design. Extensively tank tested at Delph University and tailored to the demands of the IOR Mark III rule. Glassfibre hull and deck by S.O.S with LLoyd´s certificate. Fitted out and equipped to LLoyd´s +100 A. Insulated glassfibre linings to coachroof and deckhead. Semibalanced rudder. Wheel steering with direct rod linkage. Sparlight alloy spars. Winches by Lewmar. Stainless steel rigging by Spencer of Cowes.<br />At 12.87 metres overall, with a waterline length of 10 metres and 3.72 in the beam, she offers the best of both worlds - an owner´s two-berth cabin, six additional betrhs, spacious saloon and well equipped galley and chart area, two cockpits, wheel steering, semi-balanced rudder - a yacht with the lines of a racer and the comforts of a family cruiser. |
