DescriptionGeneral'Matterhorn', Mystic 60, built in 1987 by the Ta Shing Yacht Building Co to a German Frers design. During 2000/2001 she received a complete refurbishment at Berthon Boat Co. Ltd. Foam sandwich construction with solid laminate below the waterline; during refit her hull and superstructure were painted AwlGrip Matterhorn White with green superstructure, cavita and boot-top lines. Her teak deck was replaced with new 12mm teak, including cockpit. Lead fin keel with added antimony, through bolted to hull with cast-in s/s bolts (readily accessible); refaired 2001. Cantilevered spade rudder (GRP on s/s frame), small skeg. Large s/s wheel steering, teak trimmed on custom pedestal & emergency tiller system.EquipmentPulpit, pushpit, stanchions and boarding gates. 2 x 60lb CQR anchors with 80m x 1/2" chain, mooring warps. Sprayhood, new cockpit tent, sun awnings, teak cockpit table, passerelle. Lewmar roll top hatches. Simpson s/s davits, Avon RIB 2004 with Mariner 25hp outboard engine (all 2001). 2 x 6man liferafts & RORC pack in GRP case.Particulars'Matterhorn' is a luxurious, well equipped blue water cruiser. She is a remarkable yacht and the Mystic 60' is always popular in a brokerage market. She has a family friendly deck layout, fast hull shape and excellent layout below.
Sail rigCutter rig. Proctor triple spreader mast, stepped below deck, hauled, prepared & repainted during 2001 refit and two new Spinlock jammers fitted 2007 when mast out again. Standing and running rigging replaced and hydraulics removed and overhauled during 2001 refit. Forestay, D2's & D3's replaced and leathers renewed in 2007; chain plates removed and renewed above deck (all 2007). Halyards replaced in 2007:- Main - spectra, No.1 genoa, Staysail & main outhaul - all Vectra. Staysail deck fitting renewed 2007. Winches: 2 x 50 & 1 x 54 Lewmar & 1 x Anderson 52ST at mast - halyard control lines; 2 x Lewmar 44 & 2 x Barient 37 (electric) - cockpit sheets; 1 x Barient 28T - main sheet and 2 x Barient 32 - check stop.Sails (all Sanders new in 2001): Fully battened mainsail with 3 reefs and Fredericksen car system, Staysail c/w UV strip & luff padding, Yankee c/w UV strip and luff padding, Storm jib (orange Dacron with parrel beads), all purpose spinnaker and cruising chute with snuffer.
Cruiser accommodationAttractive ash veneer joinery with rosewood inlays (all restored) with saloon refinished in 2003 in white matt on main bulkheads giving light and airy feel. There are four double cabins - two forward cabins - one with double berth, the other having 2 x single bunks - both with ensuite heads/shower compartments fitted with new Jabsco manual WCs during rebuild (all piping renewed 2007 & blue block systems added). Crew cabin forward also has heads/shower. The aft section of 'Matterhorn' was rebuilt to accommodate a revised layout with owner's centreline double berth, seating and heads/shower compartment. The spacious saloon has comfortable settee seating and dining for 8 persons. Large well equipped galley has Force 10 s/s gas cooker with oven and grill and s/s crash bar (complete gas installation refurbished 2001 including bottle storage replaced to Corgi standards and safety checked in 2007)). Panasonic microwave oven & grill, double front opening fridge above top opening deep freeze (both approx. 8cuft) both by Grunert, drinks fridge forward of galley and icemaker fitted below chart table. Double s/s sink unit with single lever mixer tap and hot & cold pressurised water. Foot pump for fresh & sea water. Waste bin, spice rack, full sets of crockery & glassware and cooking utensils/pans. Generous stowage in lockers & drawers. Corian work surfaces. Reverse cycle air conditioning (1 unit each in aft, saloon area & forward) fitted 2001. All fuel and water tanks were replaced in 2001 and new waste water tank and piping added.
NavigationRaymarine ST60 multi -wind, log, depth, Furuno radar plotter (Navnet) C-map, Furuno Navtex NX3000, Icom IC-M710 SSB, Icom IC501 Euro VHF+DSC controller, Furuno D-Fax weather fax and 2 x standard Horizon hand held VHFs all at nav. station. Furuno radar plotter, ST60 depth/speed/wind direction & speed, ST4001 + autopilot, RAM439 loudhailer/fog horn, ST60 compass & Interphase forward-looking sonar all in cockpit. Constellation compass fitted to binnacle above engine instruments.
MechanicalYanmar 4LHA DTE, 190hp, 4 cylinder diesel new in 2001 including new gear box. Engine instrument panel fitted at pedestal. New Vari prop fitted and shaft replaced. Kohler 10kw genset with acoustic hood. Jabsco 1950 submersible bilge pump & Henderson Mk V pump. Electric windlass. New fuel transfer system fitted in 2001.
