| GUIDANCE NOTES | All craft are offered for sale on the owner's behalf and subject to being unsold. The particulars given are believed to be accurate, but are not guaranteed and buyers should satisfy themselves regarding same. No warranty is given as to the condition of the vessels hull, machinery, equipment etc. An examination by a surveyor is always recommended. A telephone call prior to arrival will ensure unhurried viewing and staff available. Trials by appointment only.
1. Our brokerage craft are usually owned by private individuals and we offer them for sale on the owner's behalf and take a sales commission from the sales proceeds in much the same way as an estate agent selling a house. 2. As a buyer, it is therefore important you satisfy yourself that the boat is in the condition you would expect and a full survey is always strongly recommended. Every effort will be made to assist with a survey and any other checks you may wish to carry out. No warranty is offered and all responsibility falls to the new owner once the boat is paid in full. 3. The stages of purchase are usually as follows:
a. Select a suitable boat and then a satisfactory sales price is negotiated by us between the buyer and the seller. b. A 10% deposit is paid subject to trial and survey. The boat will be listed as under offer. c. At the buyer’s expense the boat is removed from the water, pressure washed and made ready for survey. d. After a successful trial and survey the balance of money becomes due immediately. e. In the event of an unsuccessful survey, the deposit is returned less any expenses incurred, or the price is renegotiated.
4. Then the sale is completed, the buyer becomes responsible for insurance and any necessary licences. We will be pleased to assist with these if required. 5. We will take responsibility to ensure that a ‘Handover File’ containing all title paperwork is dealt with correctly and good title is passed with the boat. In the case of Part 1 Registered boats and craft on the Small Ships Register, we can deal with the paperwork. Please ask for charges. 6. Any work whether commissioned to the buyer or seller, will not be carried out until the boat is paid for in full and ownership has passed to the purchaser. Similarly, the boat cannot be used, worked on or removed until all funds are received. 7. When the sale is complete we will be pleased to spend some time and formally hand over the craft, including familiarisation with the working parts of the craft and handling on the river. If the boat is to be stored, for example over a winter period, it is important to note that the craft will be deemed to have been ‘handed over’ before it goes into storage or is winterised, as no guarantees on any working parts are offered after the sale is complete. 8. After sales service is very important to our Company and should you require any work to be carried out once the craft is purchased, please contact Andrew Stone, Customer Services Manager, who will be delighted to help |
