The Express Pirate is a well-known bilge keel mini cruiser that sails very well for its size. It combines useful accommodation with pleasing looks and is lightweight and easily towed behind a medium family car.
An ideal first family boat. The hull has been extensively re-fitted back to bare shell, the ballast has been reset in resin and glassed into position, all frames & internals replaced & glassed in this forms 3 x watertight lockers inside the boat suitable for dry clothing & food storage. The lower hull has been re-sprayed in 2 pack paint and the underwater area epoxy coated.
Accommodation. The accommodation is open plan with new foam & covers for the seating, the hull sides have been lined to give added comfort and a galley station built into the starboard side of the boat, with one berth running forward. The port side is all laid out for seating giving two further berth's one running full length under the cockpit. Open access has also been left under the cockpit sole with access from the cabin.
On Deck.
The cockpit is a good size for 3 to work the boat with seating running to about 6' with a near full length cockpit locker to starboard storage has never been an issue on this boat. Side decks give good access to the foredeck where the anchor is stored in a foredeck locker, a stainless bow rail on the foredeck gives protection to the crew.
Sails.
The boat has a reefing headsail with a new sail installed in 2008 & used one season, the mainsail is still crisp and in good condition, replaced about 2006 but little use. All deck fittings & cleats are in good working order.
Rigging.
The rigging was inspected for use in 2008 and new turn buckles installed, all running rigging is in good condition running aft to the cockpit & ready for use.
Auxiliary Power.
The boat comes with an auxiliary outboard a 4hp Ailsa Craig/Thomas, a 1980's air cooled 2 stroke engine that turns 180 degrees to provide reverse thrust - simple & never fails.
Mooring
The boat will come with a good selection of ropes, fenders & an anchor, mooring should never be a problem for this shoal draught bilge keel boat.
