| Description | A very impressive and attractive looking cutter rigged sloop. This sought after Contest 55 is beautifully presented inside and out and is capable of short-handed worldwide cruising in absolute comfort and safety. She is in only her second ownership and is meticulously and professionally maintained to a very high standard under the fastidious eye of her current owner since purchasing her from the original owner in 2001.
This Doug Peterson / George Nissen designed Contest 55 CS was built by the renowned Conyplex yard in Holland. The Lloyds Certificate of Hull Construction ensures she is built without compromise and she has always been wintered ashore. The GRP hull is in white Awl-Grip with blue striping and has teak laid decks professionally re-caulked and sanded, along with re-varnishing of the interior sole-boards by a German yard in 2010. A powerful sailing performance is aided by her wing keel and quality Hood sails and is easily managed short-handed, with hydraulic furling and electric sheet winches all controlled from the wheel binnacle.
Below decks truly luxurious accommodation is combined with the exceptional craftsmanship and joinery of the high quality varnished teak interior and there is excellent practical stowage throughout, as you would expect on a bluewater cruiser of this calibre. The raised saloon is located within the deckhouse area where there is lots of natural light from the large windows and panoramic views. There is āUā shaped seating around the saloon table to starboard with the chart table/navigation area to port. The aft end of the saloon has lockers concealing the TV/DVD player and hi-fi. Steps lead down to the well equipped galley located in the walk-thru to the owners cabin aft, so is practical for use whilst underway at sea. Equipment includes gas and electric stoves, a fridge and freezer, twin sinks and good locker stowage. The owners cabin is aft and boasts a centreline double berth with a good sized en-suite heads compartment, separate shower stall and washing machine. There is seating either side of the double berth and an excellent range of stowage and hanging lockers.
At the forward end of the saloon steps lead down to a further walk-thru that houses a twin passage cabin to starboard and a second heads compartment with separate shower stall to port. The forepeak area houses a guest double cabin, again with excellent stowage. The main engine and machinery space is located amidships under the cockpit sole, with good all-round access from inside the yacht and the generator is located under the companionway steps.
This Contest 55 CS is very extensively equipped for living aboard and she is ready for new owners to continue cruising this quality yacht in total comfort, style and safety.
