CLOUD NINE was build in Beneteau's French boat yard in La Rochelle in 1987 and purchased by Mr Alan Thompson. The current owner purchased CLOUD NINE in 1990 from Mr Thompson and has shared her use, and finances with friends ever since. As a qualified mechanical engineer he has taken personal responsibility for maintenance throughout this period, carrying routine work himself and employing the Berthon Boat Company for more major work. During the last 18 years CLOUD NINE has cruised extensively. Initially she cruised around the UK's South Coast waters before sailing to the Caribbean for a six month cruise. On her return she sailed frequently in the Solent area, being used by a young and growing family and their friends before making regular trips to the Channel Islands, Baie de la Seine and West Coast of Brittany, two trips to the Scillies, one to Ireland and one to Scotland, followed by les ambitious trips to the West Country and the Channel Islands. CLOUD NINE is fast! We enjoy overtaking much newer boats and she has proved to be a very reliable work horse over the years. The current
  • syndicate' of mutual friends is reducing from three to two and the remaining members are planning to purchase a smaller boat to enable them to follow their retirement pursuits. With regards to her current condition, the owners employ a policy of fixing problems and potential problems before they become a problem. In the owner's opinion, she is ready to sail away!
