Professionally constructed to a high standard in New Zealand and well proven having sailed across the Pacific Ocean, the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. An immensely strong boat with a long keel and bowsprit giving a purposeful look to this seaworthy design. The deep centre cockpit is well protected from the elements by the dog house. She has wide non slip sidedecks and high solid guardrails for maximum security when going forward. In addition to her no-nonsense offshore capabilities she has plenty of deck space for sunbathing in her current Med location, both on the coachroof and the raised aft deck.
Her quality exterior construction is matched by her fit out below decks as in immediately apparent on descending the companionway steps. The beautiful wood interior is complemented by new interior upholstery throughout. A practical galley runs across the boat amidships to port with a good sized chart table opposite to starboard. Forward of this is a straight settee with storage cupboards above with seating around the lovely saloon table opposite to port, again with cupboard storage above. Both settees would make excellent sea berths and have further stowage under. Forward of the saloon is a walkthru to the guest double cabin that has a good sized heads/shower compartment to port with hanging lockers opposite to starboard.
At the aft end of the saloon is a walkthru to the owners’ double cabin aft with hanging lockers/cupboards to starboard and engine access opposite. The aft cabin itself has a small seating area and standing dressing space, a double berth and more stowage areas and additional navigation instruments located here for the skipper whilst on passage. There is an access door into the walk-in engine room complete with work bench - a very practical idea for an offshore yacht - a portable generator and tools/spares storage. The powerful main engine can easily drive the hull at nine knots.
This Alan Pape Steelmaid is a very nice looking yacht and combined with her quality construction inside and out would make an excellent choice for a practical offshore liveaboard. She has excellent stowage throughout as you would expect of a yacht of this calibre and she has the potential to undertake any cruise worldwide. She has been very lightly used in recent years. |
